My art succeeds when it allows me to express unusual profiles and surfaces. The use of simplified and stylized shapes gives visual motion and structure to my created forms. The inspiration for my work comes from the material itself. The material sends a powerful signal as to its function, and its form is derived from the interaction of natural and manmade environmental elements. In each of my pieces I have endeavored to integrate a sense of motion within a rigid material. I am attracted to metal as a medium because it provides flexibility, an excellent strength to weight ratio, stability, plus the ability to express unusual constructions and different surfaces.
